All about Andorra
Andorra has 34 festivals and traditions spread across the twelve months: 24 village festes majors, running from june to september, and 10 traditions, fairs and religious feasts filling the rest of the year. The first festa major is the Festa de la Parròquia d'Escaldes-Engordany and the last is the Festa Major d'Ansalonga.
In winter — December, January and February — Andorra celebrates Reis i cavalcada, Sant Antoni i les escudelles populars, Carnaval, Mercats de Nadal and Nadal i Sant Esteve. There are no village festes majors in winter: that cycle belongs to the summer.
6 of Andorra's festivals are designated a Festa d'Interès Cultural: Sant Antoni i les escudelles populars (17 Jan), Falles de Sant Joan (23 Jun), Roser d'Ordino (3–6 Jul), Festa Major d'Escaldes-Engordany (24–26 Jul), Festa Major de Sant Julià de Lòria (25–28 Jul) and Festa Major d'Andorra la Vella (31 Jul–3 Aug). It is the official recognition of a festival's heritage value.
July has 10 village festivals: Roser d'Ordino (3–6 Jul), Festa Major d'Anyós (8–10 Jul), Festa Major de Soldeu (10–12 Jul), Roser de la Massana (10–12 Jul), Festa Major de Canillo (17–20 Jul), Festa Major de Ransol (24–26 Jul), Festa Major d'Escaldes-Engordany (24–26 Jul), Festa Major de Sant Julià de Lòria (25–28 Jul), Festa Major d'Andorra la Vella (31 Jul–3 Aug) and Festa Major de Llorts (31 Jul–2 Aug).
August has 4 village festivals: Festa Major de l'Aldosa de la Massana (7–9 Aug), Festa Major de la Massana (14–16 Aug), Festa Major de Sornàs (14–16 Aug) and Festa Major d'Arinsal (21–23 Aug).
Andorra has 7 parishes: Canillo, Encamp, Ordino, La Massana, Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria and Escaldes-Engordany. Each parish, and many of their villages, has its own festa major.
Every festival carries the source its date comes from, and the date it was last checked. When a source does not confirm a given year's date, the festival is marked "to be confirmed" and no invented date is published. For firm plans, always confirm with the parish council.
